“Toys are children’s words. Play is their language.” - Gary Landreth

My approach working with children, teens, and families is informed by a method I call C.P.T.

C.P.T. is a combination of evidence based practices supported by child development research and implemented with a compassionate therapeutic presence.

Creativity. Compassion.

Sometimes there are no words to describe what we are feeling or experiencing. Instead, I use art materials to help my clients focus on aspects that can’t be expressed with words.

We all have an innate capacity to express. Oftentimes though, we need support and guidance to find ways that feel safe for us to describe and express deep emotions.

In our work together, I support children and families to find creative, playful, and engaging ways to tap into emotions, identify and express them in healthy and healing ways.

Patience. Partnership. Play.

The most powerful and healing expression a child naturally engages in is play. It is the language of children. I help speak the language of play with children and translate the meaning to parents.

When engaged in a play session with your child, I am assessing their understanding as well as their ability to express, problem solve, and find the solutions they need.

Trust. Trauma Informed.

Trauma informed practice means that I foster a relationship based on trust. I recognize that traumas can be big and small, and impact people differently. The words I use, the materials I offer, and the relationship I build with clients is all in the interest of building and sustaining a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Drawing upon theories of child development, expressive arts, infant mental health, and spirituality oriented psychology, sessions are designed to meet the individual needs of my clients and their families.
