Learn how to support your child through life’s most stressful circumstances

Developmental Impact Screening Evaluation (DISE)

  • Why should I consider a DISE?

Has your child experienced a stressful life circumstance such as hospitalization, living with a chronic illness, divorce in the family, separation from a caregiver, or death in the family? Are you worried that these stressful circumstances are impacting your child?

If so, a Developmental Impact Screening Evaluation (DISE) may be a good option for you and your family.

  • What is a DISE?

During a DISE, Dr. Leigh works with you and your family over a series of 6 sessions. Four of those sessions will be individually with your child and two with you as the parent/caregiver. At the end of the 6 sessions, Dr. Leigh will write a comprehensive report detailing how to best support your child based on the observations and screening tools used during the sessions..

  • What do sessions look like?

During sessions with your child, Dr. Leigh uses play-based observation, developmental screening tools, and art based interventions to assess how the stressful life circumstance may be impacting your child's social and emotional development.

Dr. Leigh will meet with the parent/caregiver before child sessions begin to gather more information about family dynamics and the stressful circumstances that the family is experiencing. After the four child sessions are complete Dr. Leigh will discuss her observations and provide details as to how best to support your child. If a written report is needed, Dr. Leigh will then complete the report for an additional fee.

  • What is the cost of a DISE?

Dr. Leigh bills on a per-session basis so you don’t need to pay for the entire process upfront.

    Individual Child Sessions (4): $ 150 each = $600

    Final Parent/Caregiver Session: $150
